Scrapbooking Fonts
Scrapbooking fonts are generally typefaces that can be used in a variety of sizes. Fonts appear on hundreds of sites on the Internet and you can access both free and commercial versions. Search for free sites via a search engine, and enter ‘free fonts’. If, however, you’ve seen one that you would like to use, you can conduct a search for it by name using www.fontseek.com. The right variety of scrapbooking fonts can help set the tone or feel of a layout. Whether you would like a layout to be fun and funky, or more classic and traditional, they will help convey these feelings for your layout. Inspiration for using text creatively can be found all around us. Magazines, advertisements, shop signs, brochures and company logos are just a few places where you can study the way letters are used and combined. Titles are the place to choose the more decorative fonts for your layout. Title lettering can be printed directly onto cardstock and used as is. The letters can be printed on to cardstock and cut out, and when added to a layout these letters appear to have a little dimension. Further dimension can be added to letters by popping them up using foam tape. Experiment with the size. Make a title really big and it becomes a feature of the layout, and you probably won’t need many other embellishments for your layout. When choosing a typeface for your journaling, find one that is legible, this will usually mean choosing a plainer style. Highly decorative fonts are quite often tiring to read if there is a lot of journaling. If choosing a few to use on your layout, you really don’t want them to be competing with one another. Try to use fonts with the same themes, for example, keep retro-styled together. And the maximum number to appear on one layout should be about three. Anymore, and it the lettering could become overwhelming and busy.
