Scrapbooking organization

Scrapbooking organization is a major challenge that all scrapbookers face at some stage in their scrapping careers. When you start off it's not too bad but as the stocks of paper,embellishments and magazines continues to grow, everyone reaches a stage when they (or their significant other!) shout enough! There's little doubt that good scrapbooking organization will lead to a more settled mind and probably better results. So how can you get organized?

First of all you need to work out your 'workstation'. Comfort and a large solid working surface are the key features here. If you can set aside a dedicated permanent room then great, but if not you can have a look round your house and see where a table might work. Card tables, folding laundry tables and dedicated scrapping desks are all options. Dont forget to make sure the chair is comfortable!

Good storage for your paper is the next aspect to look at. Your 8.5" by 11" paper could be stored in the wire trays that you see everywhere. Novelcrafts have a good example. Your 12" by 12" paper could be stored in traditional filing cabinets, with hanging files used to separate the different colors and styles.

Embellishments are another necessity that can get out of hand. Stackable containers are a good option with many different sizes and shapes available - your eyelets, brads, buttons and beads will be organised, accessible and secure from any prying little eyes & hands!

Pens are not too difficult - many normal desk units wil have suitable pen storage but if you want something dedicated, American Crafts offer some really inventive units.

Tools are more difficult because of the different shapes and sizes. The more commonly used ones will need to be handy of your work surface but those who need from time to time only coulod be stored in larger plastic boxes, perhaps on wheels to make your scrapbooking mobile.
